Age Group:
AdultsProgram Description
Event Details
Join library staff and a guest instructor to learn two great techniques for relaxation. For maximum benefit we recommend that you attend all four classes; however, you are welcome to join for as few or as many sessions as you can. This program is for adults ages 18 and up. Space is limited and registration is required. Here is an introduction from our guest instructor:
Namaste,
My name is Maithreyi [pronounced MY-3]. I am a yoga teacher and an artist. I have been teaching yoga in Coppell for over a year, and have been a practitioner for over 20 years. Also, I am currently working on my 500 hour yoga training. I have been offering private as well as group yoga classes for all age groups.
I am happy to present a combination of both my passions: yoga nidra and zentangle, as a workshop for you all. This requires no expertise, only your commitment to show up and give yourself permission to relax. We will explore yoga nidra and zentangle over four one hour sessions in the month of July. At the end of 4 hours you will have a zentangle piece of art and some tools you can use to relax your body, mind and spirit.
A brief on Yoga Nidra and Zentangle
Yoga nidra roughly translates to yogic sleep. This is a powerful meditation tool to self heal and relax deeply. An hour's worth of yoga nidra is as refreshing as three hours of deep sleep.
Zentangle is almost like doodling, and helps in calming the brain and to train yourself to be in the present.
Materials
You will need a quiet, non stimulating place for yoga nidra, such as a bed or a mat, to lie down on. For the zentangle, you would need a fine tip pen, preferably black, letter size card stock/canvas/printer paper.
I am excited to meet you all and practice the art of relaxing!
Note: The program will be hosted in Zoom, a video conference software that is free for participants. Zoom meeting details will be sent to registrants the day before the program. The Zoom video conference is considered a virtual Library facility. Participants must adhere to the Library Facility Guidelines while attending.
