Event Details

Join library staff and a guest instructor Maithreyi Satish for an introduction to Indian vegetarian cooking.  You are encouraged to share your video while you cook along with the class and interact with the instructor and other class members.  Supplemental materials for the class will be sent to participants via e-mail.  An ingredients list can be downloaded from this listing (on the right).  This week's dish will be Kichadi.  Here is an introduction from our instructor:

Namaste!  I am a yoga teacher and experimenting in the kitchen is my passion.  I enjoy trying different cuisines and adapt it to the tastes of my family.  My grandmother always mentioned that the food we eat has therapeutic and healing properties, and we all would have heard this quote "we are what we eat".  In this workshop I wanted to share some simple easy to make Indian vegetarian (can be adapted for vegan) recipes to enjoy in the comfort of your home.  This will be an interactive cook-with-me session, and I am super excited to cook with you all. Some recipes that we may experiment with will be dal chaval (white rice with lentil soup), lemon rice, upma (pilaf with semolina and vegetables), and kichadi (spiced rice and lentils).

You can learn more about Maithreyi and her kitchen experiments here: https://www.facebook.com/Mykitchenexperiments

Note: This program will be hosted in Zoom, a video conference software that is free for participants. Zoom meeting details will be sent to registrants with your registration confirmation and your registration reminder. If you do not receive this information shortly after you register please contact us.  The Zoom video conference is considered a virtual Library facility. Participants must adhere to the Library Facility Guidelines while attending.
